MEETING 04-10-08

David I called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM.

Roll Call: Charley, Roger, Jim, Jan, William, John, Robert, David A, Duane, Ron, Gary, and David I

Dave I moved that the minutes be accepted and John motioned to accept the minutes and Jan seconded.  The ayes were unanimous.

President’s report – There was nothing to report.

Vice President’s report – There was nothing to report.

Secretary’s report – Ron moved that the club get business cards and professional back boards.  Dave I stated that he could make the business cards and 100 to 200 would be enough.  John motioned that Ron look into the costs of a back board and Jan seconded the motion.  The ayes were unanimous.

Treasure’s report – Various checks had come in and the balance was $4378.31 with $1787.00 coming from the Club Rendezvous.  Fifty dollars from the club to Roger was motioned by Duane and seconded by Dave I and was passed unanimously by the club concerning a knife and Roger’s hard work at the Club Rendezvous.  The Newsletter will have some letters and an article on the Ted Turner Youth Day that John Cole organized.

OLD BUSINESS

Jan said Allen Bensley got the 2009 Southeast Rendezvous as Booshway and it will be just south of Atlanta.  The 2010 Booshway will be Wade in North Carolina in the Yakin Valley and that was over Vickie for Dade City, Florida with the Long Rifles being the dog soldiers.  Wade was also the voted the Regional Representative.  Grouch was at the Southeastern this year and is willing to use his family property for a Southeastern Rendezvous in south Alabama.  There is time to ponder and explore as presenting for the 2011 Rendezvous will be at the 2009 Southeastern Rendezvous.

Charlie said Wade approached us to run the range with our targets if possible.   Allen Bensley will approach us for help with the 2009 Southeastern Rendezvous.  William mentioned about November being used for the Southeastern instead of spring with all the tornadoes.  Ron stated that that the closing ceremonies brought up the matter of a fall date for the Southeastern Rendezvous to get away from tornadoes, but then there is the problem of hurricanes in the fall.  The vote at the meeting was about 9 for hurricanes and 12 for tornadoes.

Scott Epps membership vote was brought up.  Charlie said the quorum was 10 members so the club had a quorum.  Charlie motioned that the membership be accepted and Jan seconded it.  The vote was unanimous with the exception of John’s nay.

NEW BUSINESS

Jan brought up the matter of the club taking over administering the Blue Jacket Match results and awards.  Jan motioned that we accept the responsibility and Duane seconded.  John then asked about the problems in doing that.  Charlie said that Glenn Dickey said they have not awarded the Blue Jacket Award since 2003.  Gary said he won in the Southeastern in South Carolina, but got no award for winning. We need to have Allen Bensley get $250 for a horn with medallions on the strap that will awarded after the scores come in from all the Regional Rendezvous.  The 2005 year the scores were sent in from all the Rendezvous to NMLRA, but they then did not follow through.  What we will do is simply get the scores and award a trophy to the overall winner.  Dave A said Charlie is doing the administration of the scores now.  Dave I said we need to have the Jefferson Longrifles do the award rather than just Charlie.  Jan went over the history.

Duane said we need something in writing.  Dave I said we need a budget.  Jan motioned that we do this, and Charlie seconded.  The ayes were unanimous.

Jan said we need more youth members and motioned that we form a committee which was seconded by Duane and Robert and about 5 others.  This would be a pilot Charter Club, and Dave I said we need it on paper.  John then brought up the Beau Turner Youth Day, and how we could use that for a program for youth as Beau Turner was looking for ways to get kids off the video games.  William mentioned there has to be a finite time requirement for pursuing the matter.  Talk explored a monthly event.  Ron brought up the matter of current range certifications, and the reply was Dave A would do that.  The vote was unanimous for the Youth Committee.  William and Jan will do the work until shooting.  Gary, Duane, Dave A and Ron will do the shooting.

John got the shooting boxes from the Beau Turner Youth Day as promised by the organizers and these were distributed to the members who attended the Youth Day.  They were very nice boxes.  There were over 30.

Charlie remarked about the Secretary’s attire consisting in addition to normal clothing of a woman’s low crown hat with Garnet ribbon trimming as well as one fat sheep with 2 pink parasols.  The owner stated that at the ending ceremonies for the Southeastern Rendezvous, Steve Caudill, the Daniel Boone recreator, showed up with a modern straw cowboy hat with many angles and a stuffed  sheep on his knee with a large pink parasol in his right hand probably in honor of another recreator that was known for his stuffed sheep.  So in honor of said event the above accosted person did like wise.  To which Charlie said the owner had a new nickname, Sally Jr.

At 8:05 PM Dave I said the meeting should close .  Gary motioned to end the meeting and Jan seconded and the ayes were unanimous.  .

Duane did clean up.
