Roll Call: Jim Den Bleyker, Jan Winas, William Wilson, Charlie Powell, Pat Powell, Craig Engle, John Cole, Ken Morris, Cathy Morris, Robert Prior, Vickie Prior, David Anderson, Bill Lurvey, Rita Lurvey, Duane Ashe, Lori Hixson, Ron Dod, and

David Ikenberry

Jan motioned to accept the minutes and Jim seconded, and the ayes were unanimous.

President’s report – There was nothing to report

Vice President’s report -  Charlie gave the shoot report.  Gary won the rifle, while Dave Anderson won the smooth bore.  Deni won the archery shoot, while someone won the hawk and knife throw.

Secretary’s report -  The club was asked how they wanted the minutes etc stored, and they decided to put in on paper and disk.

Treasure’s report -  The Club balance was the same as the January Meeting report, $2220.92.  There will be a bill of $66.75 for the nonprofit yearly license fee to the State of Florida.  The black powder order has not been sent as the order needs more cans of black powder to make a minimum order.  We also need to push the due date of the yearly fees and Lone Eagle will be added.  Robert stated we should put out the membership list once a year.

OLD BUSINESS

Ron went over the St Marks Wildlife Heritage.  There were only me and son Daniel, and Terry, but we had a good day there.  Terry did the demonstration shooting, and Daniel oversaw tomahawk throwing.  I decided to use my dull mouse hawks, and the crowd threw them so hard trying to stick them on the tips, that they broke 3 handles.  Terry discussed hunting with the crowd, and I demonstrated a camp and clothing etc.

Charlie went over the Club Rendezvous.  We needed a work day on 2-10-08 and possibly Saturday too.  It was decided to try for Sunday after an informal discussion.  Tasks to be done was to clear the water tank, paint the targets, fill the holes in the ground from sunken rotten stumps, and set up the hawk blocks.  There may be 10-20 more people more than normal for the club Rendezvous.  The monthly shoot will be included in the Rendezvous.  Robert motioned to do such, and Patty seconded, and the ayes were unanimous.  Charlie explained the situational shoot on Saturday.  It would be a setting of a multi-day hunt. Pease pack items for that situation, and there would be mini tasks prior to shooting.  Participants would really need to start Friday, 1-2 PM, as starting Saturday could put people behind.  The shoot would be on Saturday afternoon.  The normal woods walk would be on Friday morning and the clay shooting in the afternoon.  There would be a daily meeting at 6 PM with a free raffle and the main raffle would be on Saturday.

NEW BUSINESS

Dave A put Patrick Sturmer up for membership in the Jefferson Longrifles.  He had attended far more than the minimum number of club events, and all who knew him thought he would be a good member of the Long Rifles.  David I asked if Patrick’s application was before the club membership, and that by club rules we needed to wait for the application.   Duane motioned and Pat seconded that we waive the rules, to wait for the application for this membership.  The ayes carried with only Craig opposing with a nay.  Duane then motioned to accept Patrick as a member, and John seconded, and the ayes were unanimous.

John brought up a request for the Jefferson Long Rifles to do what they had at the Tall Timbers Hunter Safety Camp.  This would be 3-8-08 for the day from 9 AM to 3 PM.  The camp was being hosted on Ted Turners land in Jefferson County on Highway 59 between Interstate 10 and Highway 27 on the east side of the road.  The advantage of this situation is that the State control the property for hunting purposes, and we might be able to use it for a club rendezvous.  John said the property was a good place to conduct a hunter safety camp, and would be good location for a rendezvous.

Dave A brought up the issue of the dues date being the 1st of the year instead of April to avoid late payments.  Charlie motioned that we vote for the first of year as being the date dues are due and start next year.  Craig seconded, and the ayes were unanimous save John’s nay.  Craig then brought up the problem of distant members having a not being hear to oppose if it harder to comply by the 1st of the year.  John said they could grieve it, if they wished.

For the Rendezvous, Craig inquired if people could park up close.  The answer was no.  Charlie also brought up the problem of the Club Rendezvous being for Dan and the feast for Art, and getting the relatives of the deceased to the feast with out period clothes.  Jan motioned to pass a resolution that they could attend the feast in non-period clothes, and Craig seconded.  The ayes were unanimous.

Charlie mentioned that Rita and Bill were here for the meeting.

Duane brought up the idea of a match with the remaining black powder shooters for the Tallahassee Rifle Club as Scott was still there.  Dave thought it would be a good idea around May of 2008.

Charlie mentioned that if Edgar was feeling better, he might come to the Club Rendezvous.  He also said the American Mountain Men was having a meeting in the North Florida area.  Dave A said that their meetings are closed to nonmembers.

Pat said that the Southeastern Rendezvous is being run by Booshway Wilson James, and he is a great guy, has a good site, and is doing a great job getting the Rendezvous ready.  The location is just north of Birmingham, Alabama.

Charlie motioned to end the meeting with Jan seconding, and the ayes were unanimous at 7:05 PM.

Craig was clean up.

Amendments to minutes and late announcements

Ok is it James Vaughn for the Booshway at the SE Rendezvous.  It is hard to hear with 3 people talking at once.

The Highway to take is Highway 19 not 59 for as earlier reported and Highway 19 is further east on Interstate 10.  But it is between Interstate 10 and Highway 27, and if going south just past the landfill on the west side of the road or 1/3 of a mile north of Highway 27.  The sign should show Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center, and the activities are from 10 AM to 3 PM.  Bring your own lunch or pay for theirs, they say it is a small fee.  Get there before 9 AM.  Some are saying they will be there at 7:30 AM.  We will be shooting baloons on a wire hung from a tie rod.  Again like Tall Timbers, bring smaller bores (45 and maybe 50), and a can of powder and balls.  Bring any shooting glasses and muffs if you have them.  We will try to get some plugs.

There will be a work party from 9 AM to lunch at the rendezbvous on shoot Sunday, and the shoot will be at the range.  Lunch should be 12, archer at 1 and shooting at 2.

The next club meeting will be the 2nd Thursday of April to avoid conflict with the SE Rendezvous.  Shoot day for April is still the 2nd Sunday.
