JLR August 2004 minutes (draft)
The meeting was called to
order at 7:05.
Roll call: Jackie,
Johnnie, Pat, William, Kathryn, Dick, Cheryl, Ken, Kathy, Jan, Ron, Edgar,
Jeannie and their granddaughter Kaitlyn, Deni, Bobby G., John C., Andy Greene,
Dave Ikenberry, Jim Andre, Bob P., Craig, Terry, and guest Ken Greene, Andy
Greene’s father.
Approval of minutes: The July minutes were
approved.
Reports: Pres. – no report
V.Pres. – no report
Sec. – no report
Jackie spoke with Linda – she is back with her band, in
good spirits, still having back problems.
She may lose her health insurance due to not working. She is however, working 10-15 hours at home.
Treas. – Pat read from Dave’s email – Dave has
deposits totaling $210, wrote a check to cover PO Box renewal for $68, which
leaves a balance of $2199.29. Some
people still owe dues. Dave needs an
article from John Cole for Squirrel camp, an article from the President, and an
article from Maria for the Southeastern.
Pat has written about the NE.
Also, there will be room in Plunders for “items to sell,” so if you have
anything to sell, email the info to Dave.
Recognition of workers: William, Charlie,
Duane, Pat, Lori, Dave, Brianna, Jan, and Hannah sold raffle tickets at the NE
voo. Approximately $600 was made for
the club.
Old Business: Dues are due.
August shoot is this weekend, Aug. 8. There will be no workday in August. Whether or not a workday is needed for Sept.
will be discussed at the Sept. club meeting.
Squirrel camp – John Cole
reported that Nov. 13 is the opening of squirrel season (Sat.). The two proposed weekends are the 11th
thru the 14th, or the 18th thru the 21st. William will report back at September’s
meeting as to which date will be best.
Dave Ikenberry suggested
to do the squirrel camp the
11th thru the 14th, do activities on the 11th
and 12th, and hunt on the 13th & 14th. Also, the 11th is Veteran’s
Day. Post meeting cleanup –
Dick and Cheryl will do cleanup after the meeting.
N.E. voo – William discussed
how nice and cool the weather was the first few days, even needing wool
blankets, then the weather turned hot and rainy. He talked about the raffle and that $600 was made for the
club. Brianna competed and took 2nd
place in women’s!
Edgar told of a new event,
Heritage Days Rendezvous, 9-24 thru 9-26 at Banks County Recreation Area in
Homer, Georgia. There will be camps set
up from different time periods (in chronological order) so it’s like walking
back through time.
New Business: Bobby Guris talked about the Big Bend Youth
Outdoor Program that will be held on Oct. 9, location yet to be determined,
possibly Tall Timers. This program is
to introduce youth to blackpowder, archery, etc. They are looking for volunteers to help. Bobby will report more info at the Sept.
meeting.
Midwest: Jan reported that it was one of the prettiest sites he
has ever seen. He had a great time. He
reported that the 05 will be on Lake Superior in Michigan.
